  • The Australian Psychological Society recommended hourly fee for psychologists for July 2024 is $311.00 per 50-minute consultation. We value accessibility and sustainability. Therefore, our standard fees for psychological services are currently $195.00 per hour. Medicare rebates as of June 2024 are $96.65 for general registered psychologist consultations and $131.65 for clinical psychologist consultations. 

  • Who may be eligible to receive Medicare rebate for psychological services, but not limited to:

    • People with mental health disorders

    • Children with an autism spectrum disorder (under 13 years for a diagnostic assessment; under 15 years for treatment)

    • Children with a disability including sight impairment, hearing impairment, Cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and Fragile X syndrome (under 13 years for a diagnostic assessment; under 15 years for treatment)

    • Women concerned about a current pregnancy, or one that occurred in the previous 12 months

    • People who have a chronic medical condition and complex care needs

    • Follow-up allied health services for people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

    • To be eligible to receive psychological services under Medicare, you must be referred by your GP or in some instances by a psychiatrist, paediatrician or consultant physician

  • The mental health care plan provides individuals who referred by their treating practitioners, with a rebate of $96.65 for the cost of their sessions, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. This means that after the 10th session, individuals are required to pay the full amount of the session out of pocket.

  • Counsellors and psychologists have different formal training backgrounds and specialisations, but both can provide effective counselling services. Psychologists are trained to provide specific psychological assessment, such as psychometric testing/IQ assessments, as well as therapeutic services. Counsellors focus on counselling techniques and interventions to support individuals with emotional and mental health issues.

  • Counsellors in many countries, including Australia, often are not eligible receive Medicare rebates due to specific regulations and criteria set by the government. Medicare rebates are typically available for services provided by clinical psychologists, registered psychologists, and other allied health professionals under Medicare's Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative.

  • Yes, counsellors can still provide valuable counselling services even if they do not qualify for Medicare rebates. Many counsellors work in private practice or community organizations where clients pay for sessions directly. Some clients may have private health insurance that covers counselling services, or they may access counselling through Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) offered by employers.

  • Yes, depending on your private health insurance policy, you may be able to claim rebates for counselling services. Check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage and any requirements for claiming benefits related to counselling.

  • Psychotherapists typically have advanced degrees (Master's or Doctoral) in psychology, counselling, social work, psychiatry, or related fields. They receive specialized training in psychotherapy methods and therapeutic modalities.

Cool Kids Anxiety program

  • The Cool Kids Anxiety Program is an evidence-based treatment program specifically designed for children and adolescents (aged 7-17 years) experiencing anxiety disorders. It teaches practical skills and strategies to manage anxiety effectively in a variety of settings and situations.

  • Who can benefit from the Cool Kids Anxiety Program?

    The program is beneficial for children and adolescents who experience excessive worry, fear, or anxiety that interferes with daily life, school performance, social interactions, or family relationships.

  • The program addresses various types of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder (social phobia), specific phobias, separation anxiety disorder, and other anxiety-related conditions.

  • The program uses cognitive-behavioural therapy techniques to help children and adolescents understand their anxiety, challenge unhelpful thoughts, face their fears gradually (exposure therapy), and develop coping skills such as relaxation techniques and problem-solving strategies. Study Without Stress program

  • The Study Without Stress program is a structured educational program aimed at helping students of all ages develop effective study skills, manage academic pressures, and enhance overall academic performance in a stress-free environment. The program assists individuals in years 11 and 12 to learn how their thoughts can affect their performance, challenge negative and unhelpful thinking patterns and build appropriate habits and problem-solving techniques. This also includes exam preparation including organisation methods, note taking and active reading strategies. The program also involves memory and revision techniques tailored to academic demands.

  • The program is beneficial for students facing challenges such as exam anxiety, procrastination, difficulty with time management, poor study habits, and overall stress related to academic performance.

  • The program teaches students practical strategies and techniques to improve study habits, enhance concentration, manage time effectively, set realistic goals, overcome academic challenges, and reduce stress levels associated with studying.

Occupational Therapy FAQ

  • We provide occupational therapy services for all ages, from children to older adults. Our programs are tailored to meet the unique needs of each age group.

  • We offer both clinic-based and community-based therapy services, allowing us to provide care in the environment that best suits your needs.

  • During your initial appointment, we’ll conduct a thorough assessment to understand your needs and goals. Based on this, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan to support your progress.

  • We provide services for self-managed and plan-managed NDIS clients. In addition, we welcome mainstream private clients, Medicare clients, and those with private health insurance. For self-managed and plan-managed clients, the rates are usually in line with the NDIS Price Guide:
    - Therapy Session (Capacity Building Supports): $193.99 per hour (as of 2024, subject to change).
    - Travel (for community-based therapy): Charged per kilometre or time-based depending on the provider’s policy.

  • Private OT Services:
    - Initial Assessment: $180 to $300 per hour.
    - Standard Therapy Session (45-60 minutes): $150 to $200 per session.
    - Home or Community Visit:  $200 to $300 per hour depending on location.
    - Report Writing: $150 to $200 per hour.

    Medicare Rebates:
    If eligible, rebates can reduce the out-of-pocket cost for a limited number of sessions (e.g., $55 per session rebate under a Chronic Disease Management Plan or Early Intervention).

    Private Health Insurance: Depending on your policy, rebates can range from $50 to $100 per session.
